Getting Started: You probably would not be reading this if someone had not recommended my services to you and, however glowing that recommendation may have been, the decision to chose my services over those of other area trainers (to my knowledge there are no other behavioral counselors) should not be based solely on one recommendation. There are additional considerations, for instance: 1. Continuing Education -- Is the counselor/trainer current on the latest studies and methods applicable to animal behavior and training? I regularly attend continuing education seminars and maintain an extremely comprehensive reference library including books, studies, tapes, and videos to be able to provide clients with the best possible services. 2. Experience - Is the counselor/trainer experienced? Like Cesar Millan, my earliest memories as a child are of setting up what ultimately became an agility course in my backyard and teaching the family Shepherd to run it. I have been working with pets ever since. Although my speciality is eliminating or reducing behavior problems, I still enjoy helping owners with basic obedience and good manners training. 3. Humane -- Is the counselor/trainer humane? This is, perhaps, the most critical concern that you, as a pet owner, should have when retaining the services of a counselor/trainer. Rarely, if ever, is it necessary to resort to punishment or force to compel an animal's behavior if it is trained properly. Using punishment or force can actually create other additional problems, including aggression, and should be avoided if at all possible. 4. Service -- My clients are satisfied. I encourage you to verify this by contacting the local Better Business Bureau. I have no complaints, resolved or otherwise, to-date. 5. Cost - My services are competitive, being neither the most or least expensive in the area. However, dollar for dollar, my services excel in every way.
